THE LUXARDO CHERRY GARDEN GIN BAR @ THE BOTANIST NEWCASTLE

The Luxardo Cherry Garden Gin Bar at The Botanist Newcastle opened on the 30th of August and we were kindly invited to the launch night.

The bar is open until the 20th of October; it opens on certain regular days of the week and for special cocktail events (subject to weather and the manager’s discretion). The bar is designed with a bright Mediterranean look: foliage and florals set off breezy cherry blossom around the whitewashed wood bar. You can explore the natural botanical flavours of gin, fruit and herbal garnishes and learn from tips on mixing and presentation. Long, lighter aperitivo style drinks as well as perfected classics with a twist will be served. Our personal favourite was the Lost in Thyme cocktail.

Original new cocktails on the menu include:

Cherry, Blossom & Tonic
50ml Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin
200ml tonic water
1 spray rose water
Lemon zest

Build in a tall glass over ice.

Italian 75
25ml Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin
15ml Luxardo Cherry Syrup (from a jar of maraschino cocktail cherries)
15ml lemon juice

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a champagne flute. Top with chilled prosecco and garnish with a Luxardo maraschino cherry.

Limoncello Spritz
50ml Luxardo Limoncello
15ml lemon juice
Dash of tonic water

Build in a champagne flute and top with chilled prosecco.

Lost in Thyme
60ml Luxardo Limoncello
20ml lemon juice
3 dashes celery bitters

Shake over ice and fine strain into a coupette glass. Garnish with fresh thyme.

The pop-up bar is designed to be a fixture within the garden of The Botanist, and there is plenty on the cocktail menu to tempt you back with more delicious drinks. Bartenders from The Botanist are perfecting some creative new serves and look forward to enjoying the Italian fun with you.
